Hello everyone, Im new to the board and have a question. I have a 1970 Beetle been setting for a while and hopefully this summer I can start on it. Here is my question, I have misplaced the switch key and this model has the lock steering. I cant even get it pushed into my garage to work on it. Is there a easy way to find a key for it or do I have to go through DMV and all that mess.
Any help would be appreciated.

You don't need a key. Just take the wheel apart so that you can steer and then put a temporary switch to activate the starter.
Did I understand your question right?

Hi George, you mean take the steering wheel off and go from there.

that wont do him any good
you need the key to pull the housing off the steering shaft. the steering lock will keep the housing frome coming off

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do about the key problem?
