92 Passat wagon has developed a "surge" issue. At stoplight while under load, the engine will surge and often stall. It does not surge ij neutral. Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks everybody. I found the problem by viewing some similar threads.
The Intake boot has torn in 4 places. Until I can get a new or used one, I patched it up with duct tape and electrician's tape. No more surges.
