My 2003 Jetta 1.8T did that 2 weeks ago. It would still turn over but not start. Dealer says teeth missing on timing belt and is charging me $4300.00 to fix it even though he has not taken anything apart. Sounds like a lot of volkswagen belts break early. I called Volkswagen and they won't help. I may burn mine. I called VW credit and asked if I could give it back. I also called the dealer, Tom Bush in Jacksonville, FLA and they were not able to help. I may get rid of it. I bought it because I drive 600 miles each week to work and wanted something that would last. Boy was I fooled. I'll never buy another volkswagen!

i assume you have check all of these things but if you haven't

-wires and the spark
-is you tranny and clutch ok
-do you hear it pumping
-and any fuses that are blowen

that is all that i can think of off the top of my head i will think a bit more and look at mine and see if i find any thing.
