Longtime fan but a new owner of a GTI. I have a question regarding engine type. When I shop for parts online, sites ask me what type of engine I have, AFP or BDF, and I cant find this anywhere under the hood.

I have a 2002 GTI and its a 24 valve, six-speed, VR6. Can anyone lend a hand?

I found a tag in the spare tire compartment that had "BDF" on it...so now I know what I got but have no idea what it means...

For the benefit of anyone else searching this topic... I have an 02 Jetta VR6.  I didn't have a sticker in the spare tire compartment like the other guy.  However, there was a sticker on the engine...you have to take the plastic cover off on the left side to get to it.
