Hello all , My neighbor has a problem with his jetta ...not sure how serious, any insight is appreciated ,so he is the info he told me.
2002 gas turbo model. he had it in the shop two weeks ago , they changed timing belt and water pump. He says the turbo has been noisy, but shop didn't see a problem. Yesterday motor loses power, he tries it again and it is burning oil like a steamer ship ...
he was only five blocks from home so he heads back, but with his house in sight ,the low oil light comes on ... not leaking oil anywhere ( other than out the tailpipe as smoke) I went over ,he added some oil and started it up ... no knocking or metallic sounds
when running .Any ideas?

turbo is shot. oil pump has probably pluged and didnt feed the turbo may want to pull valve cover and check the cams too that is where the oil stavation will do the most damage
