new 2008 jetta & ipod classic?

hey everyone...

I just bought a new 2008 jetta and I am looking to buy an ipod that plugs in to the arm rest.  I wanted to know if anyone has tried one of the newer ipod classics with the 2008 model jetta.  The nano works perfectly, but I wasn't sure if one of the plastic adapters are for an ipod classic... the manual just says a 5th generation ipod is best.
