I was just trying to get a general idea on how the fabric on the ceiling is attached because I want to reupholster it...also the same question about the floor carpet.

yes if you are in-expereinced in that area then take it to a shop and let them do it. Ask if they'll let you watch then next time you can figure it out on your own.

Alright there is a wicked easy and FAST way to fix this....
In my MK4 (golf) i had some light water damage on the ceiling of my car.....
So i went to the fabic store and bought some nice and thick (must be thick) fabric...
Then went to the hardwear store and bought some Spray adhesive (like Glue in a spray paint can)
Spray the ceiling and (quickly/ neatly) stick the fabric to the roof of the car!

TAKE YOU TIME you really only get one shot!!!

dj house man is right. go the the fabric store and buy some thick material. or you can use suede or anything you like. take the headliner out and carefully take the old material off. make sure you scrape of any excess foam, shreddings, anything that might be left on the headliner. get some fabric material, and FOLLOW the directions on the can. most of them require a couple coats, with about 5 mins flash time between coats. MAKE sure you wait 5 mins because this is crucial in allowing the adhesive to become tacky. then lay the material down carefully. trim off the excess with a razor blade. thats it

I would firmly recomend letting a professional shop handle headliner and carpet work. there is so much that can go wrong with it that it is just better in the long run to let someone who knows what their doing do the work.

Get yourself a trim knife to pull the stubborn clips, its not that bad. Dont let these people discourage you, I did the same thing with my mark 4 and nothing I could have done wrong would have fucked me as someone put it, take your time, watch for wiring and be careful. Can be rewarding and save alot of dough...

I wasn''t saying it cant be done. I was just saying if you have no idea, its better to have the pro''s do it.
