hello people, right i have a mk4 golf T plate automatic n ive been told that i need a new gearbox, well i've finally found one the only problem is the box codes dont match and the blokes told me that doesnt matter is this true?
the specs for my car are vw golf mk 4, 1.6 99 T plate automatic and the gearbox code is ect
the box i've found is a golf mk 4, 2002 plate 1.6 automatic but the code is cvt i think

If the auto tranny's look alike and will bolt in correct they
should work. The only thing is, if they are controlled by
a computer then the codes may make a difference.
