vwcamper bay l970

I am flumoxed help is there anyone out there that owns a vwcamper bay l970 who would like to help us. We have just purchased her and cannot workout how to push the roof up without and growing extra massive muscles it doesnt help that it wasnt put up for 20 years car body builder mechanic has clicked its umberella mechansim into place but strong husband and wife team just cant any tips?
Just as important the assembly of downstairs bed, the main seat seems to pull up ok and there is a loop to do this underneath but cant see how else it works. There are vent holes under the seat and the extra piece that obviously attaches to make up rest of bed but my husband and I just cant work it out. Cant kind people out there can you help us newey's.

I recommend install of hydraulics or more
practical actuators lol

i would need to see the setup to get a better idea of what it could be...
