I recently purchased a 1995 Jetta III, with 50k miles on it and after a couple of days it started making some weird noises.
 
When i start it up it sounds really loud as if there is a hole in the exhaust somewhere and it causes the car to vibrate like crazy.
 
Also, my car doesn't shift properly sometimes, it will just rev and rev and it won't switch into the next gear, it's an AUTOMATIC.
 
The check engine light comes on from time to time and then turns off...
 
I don't know if it's just me but it looks like the suspension is way to close to the tires in the fron therefore causing the vibrating when i'm driving and the hole in the exhaust adds to the noise.
 
I do sometimes smell gas when im in the car so i frequently drive with the sunroof open or the windows.
 
My Meters sometimes don't work as well when i start my car. It'll just sit there and shake on 0 Rpm's and 0 Mph... So i have to restart it a couple of times until it works....
 
What's wrong with my car? Is one problem causing all of these noises? HELP ME!!!!
