Hello, I am a new volkswagon owner, I bought it private, drove about two months, went to get gas and I couldn't start the car, there was electricity supplied and when I would turn the ignition I would get a slight rev and a wind down, after talking to some people we figured the starter was spinning but the the solenoid wasn't engaging the starter into the flywheel, so I got a whole new starter, I kept everything in line and to my knowledge (I have a chilton guide) replaced the starter correctly, I got one day driving out of it and the same problem started yet again. I have been suggested that flywheel teeth may be broken, but I don't know how the car would have worked the day in between, someone said battery and alternator, though my battery was fine when the problem first happened, it has sat there a few weeks, but it still spun the starter and all my lights and stereo work fine. I hope someone has some advice, I would need a tow so I am trying to do it myself (plus I like learning by doing), any help would be appreciated. thank you.
