I recently bought a turbocharger for my Passat, and was told it was ready to bolt in to the car with no modification.  My shop tried to install it, but it was clocked incorrectly and was pinching the oil supply line and contacting the cat.  They ended up having to pull the turbo and reclock it, with me getting the bill for the extra time it took.  So the point of this post is - always check the turbo clocking against the old turbo before attempting to install it.......
