Well, in 2002, when the wife told me she bought be a new car for my birthday, (YAY!), I was thrilled it was a Jetta. I left work so I could test drive the car. It was a 2002 Jetta GLS 2.0 with a 5-speed, leather, heated seats, AM/FM CD/Cassette combo. I loved the way the car drove. The second day I had the car, a belt started squeling. The CAM belt. Like the third day after owning the car, the battery light comes on...We are on the Oregon coast at this time on vacation heading to Rockaway beach. The mechanic said it was a loose wire to the alternator. about six months go by and I was driving home from work, was a 40 mile drive, and I hadn't even made it to the freeway and my battery light starts flashing. I take it to the dealership and they inform me that I can't drive the car home because it has no juice coming from the alternator. Now, 5 years later, and 80,000+ miles on the car, My check engine/emissions light comes on. Now its time for a new catylatic converter, plus, they did repairs for three recalls while I was there. Still waiting for the catylatic converter. I also have a gas smell in the car when I am driving.

So 5-years without any problems? I'd say it's been a damn good little car!

Let me tell you though, that first year had both the wife and I screaming mad. But, I have learned something. If you are unsatisfied with your car, i.e. several problems but it does not fall under the lemon law, you can tell the dealer ship to Rezend(sp) the order.
