need help with 89 golf

it wont start, has spark and i sprayed starting fluid in intake still nothing. fuel pump seems ok

If you have spark and starting fluid it should at least hit a few licks, unless the timing belt has give up.

how old is the fuel in the car ?? oh you may have got water or something into the tank
