Hi, all, Just got another wave of big snow yesterday and lucky me lost a big piece of plastic under my 2001 Jetta VR6 when I was trying to pull out of the snow. It looks like a plastic cover between the bottom of the front bumper and the oil pan to protect the parts in the engine compartment above. I'm going to call junk yards to try my luck, but anyone has an idea what this is called? Any part number/name from the dealer? Thanks. Alan

umm, skid plate something of that nature, it should be in a volkswagen repair manual if you have one, otherwise you could just call a VW dealer and talk to someone in the parts area and explain it to them they'll know for sure and be able to get you a price and part number

Thanks, that's what I did. The dealer calls it "Sound dampening pan", but the online stores call it "Skid plate" and they have different part number. Dealer wants $200 for this part, the price at internet stores varies from $50-$250 depends on model, year, and maybe where it's made. I'm going to order one online and install it by myself. Anyone has recommendation for a good online store?
