1973 beetle didn't have a tube going to the oil cooler. The air filter just sits on top of the carb, and it will have it's own way to be fastened, it has one tube about 1/2 in dia. going to a little hot air scoop close to the muffler, a small hole in the rear engine pan will be where the tube fastens to the air scoop. if it doesn't have this any more then plug the one hole on the air filter. This is a cut and dry mount, even a cave man could do it. On some models the air filter housing had two small preheat tubes, they both hook up the same as above but have two holes instead of one. The small preheat tubes carried hot air to the carb, but didn't work. However we still installed the tubes for looks and to keep the owners from asking questions.
