I have a 2004 Jetta GL that needs new tires. Any suggestions as to what would provide me with the smoothest ride and longest lifespan?

Thanks.

touring tires would give you a smooth ride and will give good milage, but are not the best in the snow. so if you live in an area that gets alot of snow you should get all-season tires.

Seeing as I'm in the same boat as you were, what tires did you end up getting and are you satified with them?

Yours or any others comments would be greatly appreciated...

What say any other IVgen drivers?

Afraid I'm going to have to stick to the stock 15"s for the time being. Most reviewers at TireRack and Discount Tire give the Yokohoma YK240 and YK250 tires good reviews. Most complaints on longevity issues, like not getting 50-60k out of a set. I don't realistically believe that a *good* tire can achieve that kind of life. There has to be a compromise (ride quality) on a compound so hard. Discount Tire (local shop) recommended these YK240's for the Civic (195/55R15)... Haven't taken the Jetta in for sizing yet.

yea I used to work for discount tire co. as a warehouse manager, Yokohama wasn't all that good selling of a tire. I would check out the dominators, or the precept touring....sold HUGE amounts of those...but it's your money.
