I originally thought the opposite.  thinking I wanted something different than a japanese import, but I was wrong, soooo wrong.

I regret it big time.  my last VW unless someone gives me one for free.

$1300 later and still skips. garage can't figure it out, bringing it back, no charge from here on out.

SO, the miss was caused by fuel injectors??  I would have slaved in a new coil pack...fixed my miss.  Did you sell it yet?  the 1.8 golfs were badass, but the VR6 golf's are the way to go!!  not all of them are bad.buy an american, easier and cheaper to work on...plus "For every foreign car someone buys, an American auto worker loses his job"

no, due to the missfires and having to drive it to shop destroyed them.  the shop can't figure it out.
its back there again... I am pissed at the shop and the car. I want to sell this peice of shat.

I drive two american cars, a chrysler pacifica and a dodge ram. both are built like crap.  my honda and my acura from back in the mid 90's were the best cars EVER.  the accord went 215000 with only normal wear and tear stuff, like tires and brakes.  it did burn up a distributor rotor bearing that cost me $400. the acura integra was bullet proof. drove that trouble free for over 200K also. traded that in for a F-150.  What a turd, it had no power for its size, and every damn seal on it leaked after about 50k.  I had to replace the oil pan gasket, $550. it was 4x4 and they have to lift the motor out. then the seal around the pinion gear went, then the syncros on 3rd went.  All from casual driving.  I never burn out or go off road, never towed with it either.   Now I go a Pacifica, it has its clunkiness in the front end and typical chrysler tranny.  My Ram, sheeesh, where do I start... the worst thing ever.

Buy american, save a mechanic's job.

FIXED.  I got it back today...
the original shop sent it to one of their buddies who works on VW's more.  They said it was the oil ring was compressed and not sealing properly.

Either way, the first shop put new injectors, plugs and wires in it. 

So, now it runs better than it did when it had 57K on it.

SO, I guess now you won't sell??  When these cars are well tkaen care of, and running to full potential, they are 2nd to none.  When one thing breaks the whole care is broke!!  But when everything is running smooth, the car is sweet.

Sorry, i know this is a VW forum, but this car sucks. the 2.0L is gutless, and goes through oil a lot. According to VW the amount it goes through is "acceptable".  I know that my car was affected by the upside down oil rings.  Then the aluminum oil pan with the steel bolt was a design whooopsie.  The dealership wants $450 to replace the oil pan because the threads are stripped.  So I found a $5.00 over sized bolt designed for this type of issue.
the car sucks in snow, I live in New England and have a 400' dirt driveway that is 25-30* incline... the golf can't go anywhere in bad weather.
Also, its soooo small and tin-ie.  its like a budweiser can with 4drs.

I am selling it and never looking back.

Those reasons you described are the reasons I bought the Jetta.

its not that jetta, its the motor.

you can get a jetta with the same 2.0L, and you can get a golf with the same V6 you got.

My wife's cousin "had" a jetta with the V6 and nothing but computer issues with it.  she hated it.  I drove it once when they first got it, and i could feel a hesitation in it on take off. she had it looked at and ever since the VW shop touched it, the MIL has been on and they can't seem to fix it. they eventually took it back.

Now, on the other hand... my father in law owned a ECO desiel jetta with 200K on it.  it eventually died when he let my brother in law take it.  he never took care of it and let the coolant leak and replaced it with water. it obviously froze solid and the motor is now done. 

I would never get a gas VW, only a desiel, but thats just me. I also think from here on out, I will only look for a desiel.  supposedly dodge is going to put a desiel in thier 1500 line up, also heard ford will answer with a similar model.
