Hello all, I need to change my 07' Beetle oil filter.  Is it in the black canister just behind the radiator?   I can't figure how to get the %#!$ thing open.  Any help would help, Thanks

Sounds like you should visit WalMart service center
before you go any further.

First off what engine and do you have a new oil filter already?

If you have the new one, take it out of the box and look for the piece that looks the same but maybe different colors.

If you have the 2.0 non turbo engine, you need to remove the skid plate under the car to get to the oil filter. To remove the skid plate you will need a torx bit. Hopefully this helps. Remember only hand tight when you install the oil filter!

Is yours the turbo 1.8? or the 1.8T? She has the 2.0 maybe that's the difference.

Ah that definately explains it.  My gf has the 2.0 non turbo.  Just a regular old filter for that thing.  How the HEX did they fit the VR6 in there?  There's no room with the little 2.0L engine...

Literally the only room I have is behind the engine against the firewall.  I figured that's where I'd put the turbo, but nope I've seen peopl with it right next to the motor.  Crazy how there's completely no room anywhere in the engine compartment.
