white smoke @ 80 mph

what's up, fellas?

this past summer while driving down the shore in my GF's '01 jetta (see sig) i noticed when i hit 80 mph white smoke started coming out the tailpipe. i pulled over and checked coolant. normal level for engine being at normal operating temperature. ever since then everytime we've driven it hasn't done it at any other speed lower than 80. in addition to that, just recently the car's been losing coolant, but i cannot find any external leaks. heat works great so can't be heater core. what do ya think?

Has all the symptoms of a blown head gasket, or
a headgasket on it's way to being full blown.

head gasket...  put some GOOD radiator sealer in and drive for like a 100 miles and don't stop, and keep the heater on high. if this doesn't work sell it

They are no different from any other engine, remove the head clean everything up and be sure to have the head plained it will be warped some what, it's aluminium you know.
Not plaining the head will cause the new head gasket to
blow soon.
