MY 2005 GOLF WILL NOT SHIFT INTO 3RD, ITS AN AUTO. ANY IDEAS

So what does it do? Go 2nd to 4th or redline in 2nd? Probably a synchro, but I don't think they have them in your tranny. Let me know what the car does?

THE CAR DOES NOT SHIFT UNTILL ALMOST REDLINE, IT GOES THROUGH 1ST 2ND 3RD BUT NOT INTO 4TH. THANKS FOR ANY INFO U CAN GIVE ME.

So it goes into 3rd but not 4th?? so if you're on the freeway, you need 5th gear does it just redline?
