That all depends on how regularly maintenace was done, well taken care of, and if there weren't any problems right from the factory.  I haven't had any major problems with my car, but my friend's is 2001 and he has nothing but elctricla problems on his.  It depends on what year, what motor, how many miles.  You never can tell how long a car will last for.  I drive everywhere and put tons of miles on my car, I had to get a 2nd vehicle jsut so I wouldn't put so many miles on it and try to extend the life span.

also with the 1.8t's there is a horsepower differance. the only 1.8t with 180 hp is the one with the AWP engine code. any of the non AWP 1.8t's were 150 hp 99-02 and 163hp 03 and newer. when i bought mine i didnt know that, but lucked out and it had the AWP (to find the code look on the side of the timing belt cover there's a little sticker that has it)

my VR6 was 172HP stock, but with the upgrades I think I'm just over 180 now.

they can be as easy a computer, or be complicated as shirts, wires that ground out.  I know someone with a 2001 that has an eventual miss, or some wires that hsort but was an easy fix.  A 2003 that is a HUGE electrical problem.
