Hi all, i just recently bought a 96 GTI with 98000 original miles. Its a cool car and very clean, the downfall is its an automatic. I have Very severe arthritis in my left anckle and cant really shift a daily driver any more, on the track i can deal with the pain but living in detroit in rush hour i would have to shift like every thirty seconds and it just starts to kill me afer a while! I have heard about high performance shift kits for automatic V.W.'s, this 2.0 litre is actualy very strong and kind of quick as it sits running the gears manualy but it just does not have the PUNCH i so miss in a five speed. ANY info on this subject would be very helpfull!!! Also any engine mods i need to know about would be SWEET! Im very familar with the 80's V.W.'s and miss my 16V Scirocco, That car was FAST! i hope i can get the same speed out of my new to me GTI!
