i know the baum scanner has a big warning about aftermarket radios but i havent had one smoke
i have had them lose conection
i have had to put stock ones back in just to do an emissions test or pull codes

I scanned it my self it called for  16556 looked it up and it says fuel trim-system rich (bank 1).
16725 says camshaft position sensor circuit-out of range/performance.
17536 says long term fuel trim-system too lean (bank 1).
replaced o2 sensor and cam sensor and timing belt water pump.

so you scanned it before the radio

if you still have the stock radio and stock harness hook it up and see what you get

That is the problem. The reason I replaced the stock radio is because it died and I threw it out. Also I did scan before installing the new radio and everything was ok until later when we done the timing belt. Yesterday I got a hookup that works at VW. He is looking into it for me. I called VW and they recognize this problem, they said something about a wire on the harness that needs to be cut or connected to something. He would not tell me. I will wait for my contact to get back to me. I will let you know what it is, so we can help others.
