Today I went to put my auto window back up, and as it was about halfway up I heard a weird crunching/screeching sound. I get out to check and I was able to lift the window itself up and down the doorframe and almost pull it out completely.

Any ideas? I heard something about a door regulator may be broken.

Sounds like a VERY common problem from what I've gathered...hope all the other "common" problems I've read about don't start happening...

My window broke....turns out VW used plastic clips to holdthe window on the track or some crap....anyways look into that too.  Mine is $175 for both kits for the front windows.

Yeah, I saw about that whole thing. Cheapest place I could find the part was the dealership for about $134. Paid mechanic to put it in because the walkthrough I found looked incredibly time consuming and a possible pain in the ass.
