try the dipstick you pull it out and it tells you how much tranny fluid is in it.

no "dipstick," ...there is no dipstick as far as I can tell. where is it located? It seems that this really isn't very informative VW site! maybe I should look elsewhere. Is there any Mechanic's or Mechanically inclined people registered on this site that can/will pass along accurate/informative information regarding VW's!? Thank You.

Yea , our lives don't wrap around this site, we have other jobs and a lot of things going on with our own cars. If more people would stick around, rather than posting their problems and then leaving and not participating, we'd have tons of active members. Anyways, your car should have a dipstick, it's down in the motor a ways. If you take it to the dealer, all they're gonna go do is take out plug.....there are 2 plugs right above one another, the bottom one is for draining and the other is for filling and checking fluid level. How I do it is I remove the top plug, stick my finger in the hole and if there's fluid in there then it's good.
