Hi All, Quick question? I dropped a penny in my Cigarette Lighter. Ever since then I have been getting my check engine light has been on with an error code described as Cooling System Performance Issue. Had the Cooling system Temp Sensor replaced, and blown fuses replaced. What could be the problem? Took it into a Import Repair Shop they said it could be my Thermostat and my Water Pump!! All because of a penny being dropped in the Cigarette Lighter!? Thx, Ruben

Sounds like just a coincidence. Did they reset the code? Reset the code, and then wait awhile, unless of course your car starts overheating or something.

yeah there is definately no way that the penny in the cigarette lighter would do anything but blow a fuse. i had a dime in mine when i bought it and just removed it with a thin tweezers or something. definately a coincidence unless the wiring in your car is completely screwed up.

Hey, I just had a buddy of mine from Autozone reset the error code, but after a day or so of driving the stupid code came back up!!!(Resetting Code's is not part of Autozone Methods and Procedures, Therefore I do not hold them responsible for any damages to my car) So, I took it to the Import shop they changed the coolent sensor and reset the codes. Then after that the light came back on. The Technician said that if the light comes back on that it could be my Water Pump and Thermostat. From the little I know, I know for a fact the pump does not have a sensor attached to it, but yet again I know very little. Any Ideas!? Thx, Ruben
