today my 2001 jetta lost power brakes for a short time. i was pulling out of a parking spot in reverse and found that the brake assist had stopped working. i checked the brake fluid it was full and did not notice a vacume leak(although i was fairly upset and was rushed to punch back in for lunch). after work i went out to see if i could drive it home. i noticed that as the engine rpms rasied the system charged but would not recharge at lower rpms after pumping the pedel 2 or 3 times. however, after 5or 10min of this, the system started working normaly. i decided to drive it home and it did not happen the whole ride home. i was thinking the power booster, but if the diaphragm was  damaged  i would think the that the assist would be lost pemanently but i dont know for sure. not to mention i did not check the vacume lines well.

any ideas

what did the pedal feel like?  If it's real hard then you booster would be losing vacuum.  Check your fluid again after you pump the brakes a few times, if it drops then you have a leak somewhere.  I'm really trying to rack my brain on this, I kinda know the system but for it to loose power and then come back is kinda weird....

I still say have the vacuum booster checked out.  Maybe there's a line that's messed up
