Hi all, I wonder if someone would mind helping me out. I own one of the early 1999 Golf Mark 4 TDI Cabrios (aka the hybrid model lol). I don't have any of the vw booklets as it started off life in Italy and I only have ONE key. I'd like to get another one but I was wondering if someone could tell me if the HAA key is chipped for this model/year (as it would be cheaper to get a key cut myself!!) Personally I don't think that it's chipped as I have never seen any evidence (wires etc etc) and when I bought the car it had been fitted with an after market alarm system with separate remote fob. I have since ripped the alarm out. But maybe someone could tell me for sure either way before I go spending any money? Would really appreciate it! Cheers.

Best ask someone in Italy, My '99 new beetle has the retractable key, and is chipped to re-set the entry if the battery in the key fails. Good luck, perhaps a VW dealer could help??? Earl
