I''ve been pondering ways to improve my fuel economy. I get around 25 mpg. I''ve driven it for the last eight years, but I''ve only put 10k on it in that time. I rebuilt the engine a few years ago and boosted it to 1641 with a slightly higher volume oil pump and a rebuilt carb (34 pict). I''ve always burned 89 octane. It runs fine with regular tune-ups, but I''ve never been able to dramatically change the fuel economy. The only thing I''ve done radically different with the fuel system is remove the old venting system (which was leaking fumes into the car) and run a vent hose out the bottom the pan, which was done when I finished the initial restoration and started driving it. Could this have any great effect, or am I missing something else?
