Basically I put a hole in my 16v 1988 MK2 block and funked it along with the crank. I then inexperiencedly bought a 8v block as I thought it would be the same. The 8v block does not have the oil jets as the 16v, the rods and pistons are different, there is not a breather hole on the 8v as there is on the 16v, however there is a blanked off hole but not the same fit as the 16v. So far all the bits fit, the rod that drives the oil pump (I’m sure this has a proper name) as these are different sizes, the clutch fits, every other bolt hole on the block is identical.........does anyone know why this wouldn’t work????? P.S. My old boy is helping me and he''s an aircraft mechanic so he''ll be doing most of the work, so it will run again, i hope. He suggested I came on here and asked if there was anything obvious to watch out for......any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, well in advance
