[:@]i need some help.am a parplegic and ive always wanted to restore a older bug63-73.and someone told me that you dont have to push in the clutch on the older bugs.does anyone know if thats true.if not do you have any suggestions.thanks.

Gamecock,
In the late 60''s you could get a beetle with a "Auto-stick".
It had a clutch to put it in gear after starting the engine.
After getting it in gear and starting it going, as soon as you touched the shifter it would de-clutch so you could shift to the next gear. I believe you had to manually use the clutch when you stopped, and re started, such as at a stop sign.

I drive a 74 Autostick Beetle, it only has 3 forward gears. L, 1, and 2. You dont need to drive it like a standard. I usually drive around town in 1st (which is kind of equivalent to 3rd on a standard), but you dont need to go to neutral or gear down at stop signs, just keep it in gear and go. Theoretically you could always stay in 2 (4 on a standard), but I dont imagine youd get anywhere very fast :(
