Hello all!   On my wife''s beetle (yes, i am talking about her car), I am pretty sure the left front wheel bearing is going bad.  The car has 78K on it.  I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and wanted to know if it is an easy do-it-yourself job?  Also, does anyone know what size nut is in the center of the hub?  I know it is bigger then a 27mm and less then a 36mm ( those are the front and rear axles on my bike).  Any help is appreciated!!!

Is removing the hub something I can do and then take it to a shop to have pressed in and out?

Well, took your advice (even though you didn''t come right out and say it) and took it to a local VW non dealer mechanic and it cost me $197.00.  I didn''t that was too unreasonable.  but he did mention that he could hear the passenger side bearing start to make some noise, though it did not need replacing yet.  The bearing he replaced it with was a FAG brand
