Hi all i''''ve got a 2005 2.0 GT FSI that keeps going into limp mode when throttling off after running at high speed. Took it to the good old dealers who, low and behold, could not replicate the issue and could not find not diagnostic error codes (strangley, perhaps because the car was still in warranty). The problem has occured again, twice. I have used a diagnostic tool following both events and both times returned an error code of 17953 which apparently is a throttle position control malfunction. Does anyone know if this can be rectified by a relatively cheap method, ie re-programming the ECU with VAGCom software or something. I find it rediculous that V.W. themselves could not find the fault yet it''''s a known issue across all of the internet in forums etc. I priced up a new part and the jokers wanted £415, plus vat and fitting. Anyone else also disgusted with V.W.''''s aftersales service?

You could do a throttle body alighnment with the VAG or you could reset the ecu by pulling the battery cables, then before starting the car you turn the key to the on position and the throttle body will alighn, you will hear a buzzing and a click. then start the car...
