This seems like a nice quiet site, could be like having a private clubhouse with limited membership. People pay dearly for exclusiveness.LOL I currently own a 99 NewBeatle TDI. Bought it because it's the only model car I could find when shopping around that I actually fit in ( I'm a big boy ).. The TDI engine is great for fuel economy, I average over 55 miles per gallon ( or near that what with the metric to US conversion ). Of course the savings aren't as great as they were back in 99 when diesel was less expensive than unleaded. Can't speak for previous model years but my biggest fear about the diesel engine not starting in the cold have been proven wrong. It has never let me down except for one time when my battery was getting long in the tooth. Have gotten it started even in temps down to 35 below. Past few days have been down to minus 25-26c ( that's minus 15 F). And this by just following the recommended service in the OM. I really like the way it handles, comfort, dependability, etc Anyways, just wanted to say Hi and hope this site picks up because I would like to be able to trade tips with other owners.

I am in the marked for a TDI Beetle right now. Has your 99 had many (if any) problems? I have heard the 99s are finicky.
