somewhere around the Southern Cali area (riverside, moreno valley, fontana etc) that would be able to work with me on getting maybe a new AT and engine for my g/f''s 89 jetta. I just had a very bad experience with a mechanic recently so Im very weary of them ATM.

A shop I had brought my eagle vision to tried to tell me my ecu and harness was bad and was gonna cost me 250 for the ecu and 1500 for the harness (plus labor) That was AFTER the car had been sitting there for over a month. Well I took it to another shop and turns out all it was is a crank sensor and is only gonna run me 91 bucks plus cost of a battery.

Shes a senoir in HS (shes 18) and I work 3-5 part time jobs to BARELY scrape by, so money is a huge issue. So if anyone has any reccomendations or ideas please let me know. I have some mech knowledge and if I had the room I could probably re-build the engine myself but I dont.

the jetta has 250k miles, it burns fluids like theres no tommorow, she got it free so if she drops 1500-3k into it and gets an almost new system its a great deal..any other info needed please ask.

yeah, unfortunately they seem to be few and far between. I think the mech I have my car with now happens to be both. ButHe''s very far from where I live. And I was hoping to find someone who deals ALOT w/VW''s.  Ill see if anyone has anything to recommend as im not in a huge hurry to get her car in the shop yet Its running well enough to get around town.
