This is probably gonna sound dumb, but I dont know a whole lot about cars.

Is antifreeze the same as coolant or transmission fluid? Where is it actually filled?

The reason I ask is that I now drive a Jetta, but the AC stopped functioning a while ago. I know its not because theres a malfunction with the AC. It was working fine. Pervious owner had it fixed a while back. They filled it with antifreeze a long time ago though. Possibly a leak?

your air con runs on gas and this has to be recharged by a professional, sounds like you might have a small leak, go to a specalist. antifreeze/coolant goes in the expansion bowl(clear bowl in engine bay)

Hey bud,

Just take it easy, a lot of the time when members don't know the answer to a question they won't post anything. Just have to wait it out till someone who does know comes across the post and can help you. Personally I've been out of town and away from a computer, so I haven't been able to access the forum, sorry for your frustration but it is a good forum, just have to have patience sometimes :-)

That may be true for some questions sometimes, but I think most of those who did know were either probably too busy to care or smirking away at my lack of knowledge over something so simple. I had crossed paths with this forum before and knew it was good, but was disappointed that only one person bothered to take the time to reply this time.

Thanks anyways Jeff.

Oh and no offense but don't call me bud

Well I'm sorry to hear that. If you have any problems in the future, please feel free to PM a moderator with your situation. We want to keep it friendly. Sorry you took offence to "bud" but you didn't leave a name.
