Hi guys, I have a 99-1/2 Golf Gti 2.0L and i have an interesting problem. For some reason when i open the doors the light don't come on or the chime dinging noise. You know if you leave your headlight on or your key in the ignition it should chime at you but it doesn't. However when i unlock my doors with my key the light come on. If anyone as any ideas please let me know. Thax guys....

has it always done this?
its possible that someone took out the relay or fuse for the door chime thing... i have friends that have done this so avoid the noise and i did in my old grand cherokee. check the fuses and relays, other than that i dont know...
good luck

Your 'dinger' could just be toast, but I agree with bagel, check for the fuse. My VW actually has a speaker that plugs into the fuse panel...I ripped it out, so annoying. lol
