2001 gls

I was having a problem with my battery, well at least i think it was my battery. Sometimes my car would start, and then it just wouldnt. It would start with a jump....so I replaced the battery. Now my after market radio wont work, but the weirdest thing is that my car wont move out of park. I cant get the shifter to move at all, its an automatic. Any suggestions on what the problem is? Any help would be greatly appreciated...:)

That's a good one. Sounds like your neutral safety switch (and electrical issues). Try starting in neutral and see what happens.

well, i think it has something to do with the brake lights.....i dont know, its all f'd up....some guys told me i need a new alternator.....now i have to get the darn thing towed.....ugh....

Bah sorry to hear that! Does sound like something messed. One of those what the hell problems. Have come across a few and still have one or two with my VW.

so, i replaced the alternator.....still doesnt wanna move out of park....i guess im gonna have to get it towed and hook it up to the computer to see what the problem is. but i did find out there was a recall at one time or another on the brake light switch or whatever it is...so it may work out in my favor, to get it fixed for free.....

k so the idiot who put in my alternator, had the ground in the wrong place.....so that fixed my brake light problem, so my car is mobile....but now it wont shift into overdrive, and its really sluggish.....i dont have a clue what the deal is, and neither does my german automotive mechanic.....huh!!
