Hey guys and gals new to the forum and just looking for a little help and some advice about a 93 cabrio (supposedly a collectors edition).
I am contemplating buying this car, it has been garage kept for the life of the car and only has 28k on it. The guy who is selling it was keeping it as a collector car but for other reasons financially needs to sell.

This is what I'm not sure about. Hes asking 6000.00 and is firm on the price.

what do you guys think? Need some advice on this? Is it worth it? I checked arouond on some sites and it does seem like a steal but would like to get someone elses views.

Oh I'm going to look at it this weekend.

I used to have a 93 Cabriolet....a real head turner. It was red with a white convertible top, loved it. If you're getting it for only $6000 and it has 28k miles on it, you will never find another deal like that again. I had a crap load of miles on mine, but the car itself was in great shape, I sold it for $4300 to a guy who loves those cars. In my opinion, I would get it, if it's immacualte like it sounds. Good luck.

Yeah, sounds good... almost too good. 93, with 28k? thats almost unheard of. I'd definitely scope the car out and make sure he isnt screwin ya first, but yeah, sounds like a hell of a deal.

Thanks guys

I am going to look at it this sunday.
I am an old school VW guy, I owned a couple of rides in the past. Just recently got back into the scene and was looking for some aftermarket parts for this particular VW. And I do have to say that I have found some, but there isn't a whole lot of stuff out there for the A1 or mk1 models.

If I do buy this cabrio I have little intention of modifying the exterior with the exception of some sweet rims and tires. I am mostly interested in motor mods. In others words I want it to look stock but have a punch to maybe take some newer stock VW's.

My question is I guess do you guys think that it is worth it? Or should I just leave it pretty much stock?

As in motor mods I was thinking about turning it into a 16v but I think its better or easier if I have a 2.0 as opposed to the 1.8 that comes in it. Any ideas what i can do with the stock 1.8? I know i would run a new exhaust from the manifold back, I already got a price on that. Drop it about an inch and replace the the suspension.

If I do buy this car it's either going to be a long term thing, or keep it pretty much the way it is and get a newer GTI that I really want.

I don't know. just looking for some insight and guidance from some new school Vdubs for an old school one.

They may make a turbo kit for it, figure since it's 1.8 and they have 1.8T's, I dunno much about modding those type. Sorry
