I have an 02 GLS auto. My mother was driving and it began to "malfunction - hesitate - slow down"...that's about all I could get out of her. She pulled the car off the freeway and stopped. That is all the farther the car has gone!

The car starts and runs fine. If you put the car in R, it makes a "thunk" sound and will go nowhere, it will not rev (like it's stuck somehow) If you put the car in D-3-2-1, it will engage and turn the wheels...barely. In N you might as well be in P...the car will not move. P works normally. Has anyone had this problem? I desperately need this car...HELP

Time for a new transmission, sounds like the internals have gave out. Hopefully you have an extended warranty on the transmission. If not that, the only thing else I can think of without totally shotting from the hip, is that something broke that connects from the trans and motor to your wheels. That's what it sounds like to me, maybe someone else knows.
