Well I purchased the car not to long ago and now it seems that I have no reverse, no first and no second. It is a 5 speed diesel with 107,000 on it. The only gears I can get are 3 and 4. Any ideas on what the problem might be? Thanks Mitch

How expensive are we talking, and where is the best place to buy used or new. New to the Jetta thing so not sure where to get things. Thanks

This is not the clutch, you have flywheels in your transmission, for each of those gears, that are not engaging. At a minimum your transmission needs to be rebuilt and that can run upwards of 2K. If that's the case, sell the car for parts.

No nothing wrong with the the trani at all. After spending some time searching through the engine I found the shift linkage was broke, it was a 25.00 part. Thanks for trying though. The TDI are a good find either way and people are paying over book for them so I would of rebuilt it and sold it. Thanks
