Hello. A week ago, I took my jetta for inspection. It did not pass because of OBD/EMISSIONS. The code that came up is P1582. I was wondering if my check engine light was suppose to come on before. But, I have never had the check engine light on. I looked up the code and it says "IDLE SPEED ADAPTION LIMIT REACHED". My question is, what could this be and why didn't my engine light come on when the code came up. I would like to know what I can do to erase the code, other than erasing it with the scanner, so I can pass inspection. Also, I would like to fix it myself cause I am low on budget so, I am not planning to take it to any shop. THX.

Disco the battery for a couple min, then reconnect it. See if the code is gone, otherwise I guess use a scanner.
