just bought a 63 rqgtop. It ran well enough to drive onto the trailer to bring it home. But haven't been able to start it since then. I have changed out the battery, starter, ignition switch, fuses. Checked the ground on the battery cleaned it up it was rusty. When I turn the switch the light at the bottom of the speedo comes on then goes dim once I get the key all the way to the right. What have I not checked. Why did this run before I brought it home did we hit a bump that shook something loose.

Please help.....

take a hammer or something and rap on the starter. not the solenoid housing,make sure car is not in gear and you dont run yourself over . i assumee car was sitting for while and /or got wet and armature is stuck. it may clear with use .

i should tell you this is a two man job one guy turns the key as at the same time the other raps on the starter.

don't hit the starter, does the engine turn freely? might be gummed up or somthing. might have to take it apart if its hard. the engines real simple, just don't lose any washers/screws. if you need any further help, email me. corvette6698512@msn.com

what happens when you try to turn it over? does it click? does it slowly turn? does it turn over but doesnt want to fire? How long did the car sit? Does it have fuel? Have you drained and replaced the fuel? Checked the fuel filter?
