I was considering buying a 2002 golf with a 2.0 motor. I was wondering if the motors had any problems that I should look out for? The car has 66,xxx miles on it. How long do these things last?

I've got a '04 2.0 Golf that's been holding up just fine. Motor whines a little around 25-35 mph on the highway. It's due for a tune up though. And I've only got 27k on it so far. Take it for what it is.

you drive 25-35 on the highway? hahah jokes.
i heard just the other day from buddy going to car school that has a friend in the AUDI/VW program saying that the only real problem they have with VW's is sludge after a while due to over due oil changes, but as long as the oil changes are kept up with, there should be no problems
