not sure about the carpet, maybe use a shop vac? and for the vents, i dont see why not as long as it doesnt drip and run too much, even then i doubt itll hurt.

The best thing I've found to clean vents and down in cracks is a new small paint brush like 1/2 inch wide.

spray all purpose cleaner on the carpets then scrub with soap....let sit for like 5-10 min....then vacume...that should do it
