Is there something I am supposed to be putting in my diesel engine now that it is winter? I heard that there was, but I don't know what it is. Any help would be appreciated.

depending on where you live there are a couple of conditioners or water sepaerators that you could try, keep fuel filter clean and replace or drain water separator regularly, try a local diesel truck stop they usually have what you need.

My name is Dave and I'm a Diesel Tech for a Ford Dealership in Florida, and once upon a time in Tennessee. Diesel fuel does need certain additives which are already added to most northern fuel supplies at the stations. These are called winter blends. A small amount of additive is OK as long as you don't put to much in. There are lubricity additives (lube up the injectors) and cetane boosters (cetane is to Diesel what octane is to Gasoline). Cetane will make it run with less smoke and easier starts. lubricty additives prolong injector life.
