Yeah, that's me. I just bought a 2002 1.8T Passat. I really like it... It is my first VW.

I joined this forum for support and advice. There are no VW dealers close by, so I will be doing most of the lesser-medium maintenance things myself.
I would like to mod my car some, but I want to keep it classy. There is no way I'm going to drive around like a little ricer guy splitting eardrums and getting laughed at. I wanted help with the modding, also. It seems to me that it is a little more difficult to find performance parts for VW's (or at least my particular model) than it is for other makes. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places...? Who knows?!

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. Hello all.

Cheers,
Kevin

Hey Atypical

I want the same things you do. I want performance w/o following the crowd. My last car was an Eclipse. yes, I went w/ the pipe and intake and fit right in. Now I sport an 03 Jetta w/ 1.8t engine. The best car i've had. welcome to the site.

Yea, anti-ricer here....best bet, make the engine breathe
better. Do complete exhaust systems. You can hear the
difference. Good suspension, good rubber, good to go.

i would guess that if there is ANY change in the engine, then yes, you will have to change the computer, unless they current computer offers some tuning ability, which most do not.
