Hi All,  I had an '95 VR6 put in my '93 and was having a little transmission and overheating problems.  My coolant temp reaches about 220-225 and oil temp can run as high as 224 degrees.  When driving about 65-70 mph my rpm's are right around 3k.  I think that is alittle high.  I don't want to burn this engine up like the last person who had the car did.
I have replace a bad Aux. water pump and thermostat and antifreeze to boot. What else is there?  My temp gauge goes down when I turn the heater on but I can't drive around in the summer with the heater on.  Do I need to tell the CAR (93)that it has a 95 engine in it or did my mechanic miss something while installing the 95?  Should I been concerned.

I'm not sure. maybe try a new thermostat maybe the thermostat you got was bad. check if your fans activate at the right time too. As for the RPMs my 93 golf runs around the same at 100 km/h. The VW's need  a sixth gear. all of them that i know if are like that.
