I need to make a few decisions and was wonderign if you could help.

1. My 99 Jetta GLS is being fixed with a new right inner front tie rod and I was told that the allignment is going to be extra $140 in the VW autorised service center. Just tires does the alligment for $60 but I am not sure if I should get it done with the authorised VM Service center or just tires. Any suggestions?

2. Another issue is that the service center found that the oil consumption is high and they are currently fixing the oil leak. I do not have much more information but I was wondering if this is a sign of the engine going bad (if there is such an effect of an oil leak)? or should i watch out for other issues related to this?

3. How easy/difficult is it to replace heated mirrors? They have been out for a while and have not missed them but thought for replacing these are Chicago can have a few snow storms. Do you know of the cost for this?

if you trust the place get the cheaper allignment. you just have to ride their ass to make sure that they do it correctly.

depending on the leak it probly just means that your car (sad to say) is getting old. depending on the type of the oil it can help fix the leak depending on where it is coming from.
